Local non-profit has global reach

Indianapolis, IN – ​Global Orphan Foundation is pleased to announce its upcoming trip to the Democratic Republic of the Congo. This 4-day visit will be the 15th the organization has made since being founded by local philanthropist, Michele Jackson, in 2007.

The purpose of the trip is to check in on the more than 150 orphaned children the organization provides nutrition and medical support to through its keystone initiative, the Pebble Project. “In the 16-months since GOF implemented the Pebble Project Nutrition Program in DRC, we have seen improvement in 100% of the children at the orphanages,” says Nicole Brandt, GOF executive director. “We’re thrilled with the progress and remain focused on a healthy future for these kids.”

The organization also provides local services including adoption assistance grants to families across the United States who need financial support to cover adoption fees. “The average adoption cost in the United States is roughly $15,000 and more like $40,000 for international adoptions. We don’t want the cost of adoption to be a barrier between connecting children with families,” says Brandt.
