Bolingo Village Nutrition Center

We are excited to share a new development in our mission to support and nurture the children of Bolingo Village. As you know, the Global Orphan Foundation opened Bolingo Village in 2019 with the vision of providing a loving, family-like environment for orphaned and vulnerable children. From our humble beginnings with 15 children, we now have 100 children who call Bolingo Village home.

Our progress over the last five years has been tremendous, thanks to the unwavering support of people like you. Today, we are reaching out to you with an exciting new project that we believe will significantly enhance the quality of life for our children: the construction of a Nutrition Center.

Why does Bolingo Village need a Nutrition Center?

A Central Hub for Nutrition and Well-Being

The Nutrition Center will be a cornerstone of Bolingo Village, strategically located near the playground, community center, clinic, and pavilion where community meals are shared. This central location ensures that the children can easily access nutritious meals, stay hydrated while playing, and enjoy a holistic approach to their well-being.

Key Features of the Nutrition Center:

• Meal Preparation: A dedicated space where staff can prepare healthy, balanced meals for all the children.

• Food Storage: Proper facilities to store fresh ingredients and ensure food safety.

• Medical Oversight: A place where our medical staff can collaborate with the kitchen team to plan and monitor nutritious menus tailored to the children's needs.

• Baking Facilities: A designated area for our baker to make and proof bread dough, providing fresh, wholesome bread daily.

• Water Fountain: An exterior water fountain near the playground, ensuring that children stay hydrated while they play.

The Impact of Proper Nutrition

The importance of proper nutrition cannot be overstated. For many of our children, coming to Bolingo Village marked their first experience with consistent, nutritious meals. For example,

Aminata arrived severely malnourished, unable to speak and constantly crying. Today, thanks to the dedicated care of our medical team and nutritional support, she is healthy and meeting all her developmental milestones.

Another success story is one of our original boys, who was found by police in a trash can. He is now a lively and beloved member of our community, thriving under the care of his foster mom and the support of the Bolingo Village family.
